PENDUKA VILLAGE

Through Penduka Village, we support women in their talent development and their journey towards financial independence. Nestled beside the picturesque Goreangab Dam in Katutura, one of Windhoek's vibrant western townships, lies Penduka Village. Right in the heart of nature. Penduka was founded and nurtured by visionary female leaders and has stood for 30 years as a beacon of empowerment for vulnerable women in disadvantaged communities. The mission? To provide women with the opportunity to earn a sustainable income, improve the livelihoods of their families, and ultimately uplift the entire community.
Penduka Village supports women in their talent development and provides them with opportunities for financial independence by helping them utilise their skills in employment. At Penduka Village, traditional handcrafted products are made, and tourism and educational activities are run by local women.
“Penduka Village, where craftmanship meets community.”
SUITSUIT tipped us off about this unique place after one of their campaign trips. During this trip, they took part in a batik workshop and were inspired by the story of the women and the positive impact this initiative has on the local community, particularly on the women.
HOW WE SUPPORT PUENDUKA VILLAGE
After reaching out and speaking with Kauna, the manager of Penduka Village, we discovered where they could benefit most from our support. We are supporting Penduka Village by investing €5,000 in 2 overlock machines and 6 sewing machines, enabling women to offer craft workshops and create handmade products to sell in the Penduka shop.
